Our Chapter will be participating in Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends event. This event helps shoppers save money on Friends Helping Friends Day and also helps raise money for our Chapter to support our programs.
With the purchase of a $5 Friends Helping Friends Shopping Pass receive a 25% discount* for purchases made only on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 at all Boscov’s locations (offer not valid online). This is an all day store hours event (8:00 AM to 11:00 PM) but our Chapter will be at event tables at the Concord Mall location during the hours of Noon to 3:00PM and at the Granite Run location from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Our Chapter is also participating in three onsite pre-sale days: Tuesday, September 24 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at the Concord Mall location and Thursday, September 26 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM and Friday, September 27 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Granite Run location .

During the summer months Chapter members participated in two events offered through our RECREO Chair, Caroline Fedena. In July a group went to the Winterthur Museum to see the Customizing THE CROWN exhibit which features 40 iconic costumes from the Emmy® award-winning Netflix series
The Crown which dramatizes history of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II .
In August members attended the Candlelight Theatre production of the classic award winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific plus the group enjoyed the buffet lunch.
During the Spring of 2019 our members attended a variety of RECREO events which included a day at the Phillies Game at Citizens Bank Park, trip to the Kimmel Center to see the American Bandstand show performed by the Philly Pops and the Candlelight Theatre show Lend Me a Tenor. Fun times!
In May 2019 our Chapter held the Excellence in Education awards luncheon to recognize Delaware County schools, public school employees, selected winners from the Delaware County Science Fair and students seeking a career in public education. The awards are the Lauretta Woodson Awards, the Educational Grant Awards, Delaware County Science Fair winners in four categories, and the Lauretta Woodson Scholarships. The Educational Grant and Lauretta Woodson School District Awards are given to selected school districts within Delaware County on a rotating basis. The Educational Support Committee under the leadership of John Ruth is proud to announce the 2019 awardees listed below:

During the Fall of 2018 Chapter members and friends had the opportunity to enjoy a visit to the The Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the high fashion exhibit, hear the festive sounds of the Philly Pops Christmas Concert and to experience the timeless classic The Nutcracker performed by the Brandywine Ballet Company. PASR Delaware County Chapter volunteers lead by John DellaGuardia, chair of the Social Services Memorial Honor Fund repacked, tagged, and delivered Poinsettia to our members in retirement communities and nursing facilities. Our members look forward to this event each year and appreciate the efforts of our Chapter in sharing holiday wishes.
Our PASR Delaware County Chapter held it’s Fall Luncheon at the Granite Farms Estates on November 1, 2018 featuring a Celebration of Service. Awards were given to individuals that provide service to our Chapter and to the greater community. Their acts of service and volunteerism exemplifies our motto - To serve not to be served.

In keeping with the theme of service and giving and the efforts of our Community Services Committee, attendees brought donations of non-perishable food for the Bernardine Center and warm clothing items for Kozy Kidz.
In 2018 PASR established the Fred A. McKillop Award honoring the memory of former PASR longtime lobbyist Fred A. McKillop. This award was given to Steve Kupsov, immediate past president of the PASR Delaware County Chapter. Steve received the award at the PASR 2018 Leadership Conference for his longtime work and advocacy in promoting the PASR legislative positions and for educating members about the importance to actively advocate with legislators for the welfare of public school retirees. Steve is the chair of our Chapter Legislative & L/PEC Committee. Information on the efforts of the Committee can be found on our L/PEC page.
